Weekly Smudges [#1]

Hey guys! Weekly Smudges is a new feature Meg and I decided to start up, in which we'll round up all our posts and weekly happenings every Sunday. Here's what happened on the blog this week:

Chri talks about Legacy of the Clockwork Key (Kristin Bailey) and inflatable pools, while Meg reviews the intriguing debut, The Murmurings (Carly Anne West). Vengeance Bound (Justina Ireland) "pales slightly compared to other debuts of 2013", but was still a fairly decent read; Chri reviews Darker Still (Leanna Renee Hieber) - a book that "had it's good points and bad points, and did make for a fresh quick read." Awesome book hauls from both of you :D Out of the Easy and Let the Sky Fall are on my TBR too, I'm loving the spine design for Let the Sky Fall! I am so jealous of Meg with your copy of Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm :P I LOVED SHADOW AND BONE BTW! Happy reading to both of you :)

  3. I'll start doing this, once I get back from China. And eep, Meg, isn't a Kindle just beautiful? Is Shadow and Bone nice? And congrats on getting an ARC of Siege and Storm, because last I checked, it's still not in stores, right?

  4. Haha, that's not a Kindle, it's actually a Samsung Galaxy Tab. I'm switching to a Kindle, though, because reading on the Samsung blinds my eyes >.< SHADOW AND BONE is amazing. My review will be up sometime this week! Yep, SIEGE AND STORM is not out yet. I was so lucky to get an ARC of it! :)

  5. SO GLAD YOU LIKED IT. I literally can't express how much I feel for it. My review will probably make me sound like raving madwoman, but I DON'T CAREEEE. xP Seriously, the book shot past my expectations. <3

  6. I always love to see the books other people got and you two made me greedy, haha. You have some awesome titles there!

I can't wait for The Eternity Cure. I'm so excited. Shadow and Bone is AMAZING. I think you are going to love it Meg! And I can't wait for Siege and storm. I need it <3 Happy reading!

  7. Wow, I never knew Shadow and Bone was so HUGE! It's so big, and I'm pretty sure I've heard people say they wish it didn't end. ( :
This is a really great round up- I'm off to check out a couple of your noteworthy posts now!

  8. I know you're reading Siege and Storm at the moment Meg, and I hope you're loving it! :) I can't wait to see what you think of The Eternity Cure (which I liked, but had some mixed thoughts on) and The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die. Chri, I hope you like Out of the Easy! I was really impressed with that book. Undone and Let the Sky Fall sound pretty good too. Enjoy! :)

  10. Ha, I love the two blue and purple faces on the photos and your sidebar! :D How creative! I got Slated from Jenny @ Chocolate Chunky Munkie ages ago and I still need to sit down and read it - looking forward to hearing what you think of it, Chri!

  12. I just took Undone out of the library, and I can't wait to get started with it. I can't wait to see what you think of it! :) I totally need to read Slated too, I've had a copy for months and still haven't read it. Shadow and Bone was a brilliant read, but it left me desperate to get my hands on a copy of Siege and Storm!

  13. YOU LUCKY. And oh, well, it doesn't really look like a Samsung, when I judged it by the display. Or maybe I just got really obsessed with my Kindle. And did you know your post about 5 Ways to Annoy a Blogger was in Radiant Shadows?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Haha, it's actually SHADOW AND BONE and SIEGE AND STORM combined into one book. :) I can see why they'd say that! The book is amazing. Seriously. If you haven't read it, you have to, now.

Hope you enjoy them! Thanks for dropping by, Romi.

  15. It looks like a Kindle Fire, doesn't it? *sudden realization* Actually, I really prefer the Kindle better. The app I'm using on the Samsung isn't all that convenient, and sometimes it has minor bugs that annoy me to no end. Yes, I did! I feel really honored! :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. :D You should feel honored, because your blog's amazing.

And yes, a Kindle's worth it. But I don't know about a Kindle Fire. It's a cheap tablet, but last I remember, you live in Malaysia (did I get it right?), and the store only works in US. And only the Kindle e-readers have that special display that does not ruin your eyes, and my Kindle keyboard's reading experience is a dream. The only downside is that it's not a Paperbright (or Paperwhite, I can't remember) because that model has these lights at the bottom, so I can read in the dark. And the light distribution might be bad, but I want to read in the dark, so as long as I can do that, I'm happy.

  17. Everyone's being so kind this week! Thank you so much, Shannelle - that comment seriously made my day. <3

Yep, I do, but my dad travels quite a lot to countries where Amazon DOES ship, that's why we've got so many Kindles at home. I know. Kindle is the best, it's just the countries where they are available that sucks. Reading should be international, not just restricted to the bigger countries. Oh my gosh, the Paperwhite is probably the best Kindle ever. It's touchscreen, and even though its screen glows, it's not glaring, you know? And my Kindle isn't a Paperwhite, but its cover comes with a built-in reading light so I can read in the dark. :)

  18. I detest you now. I want that light thingy! *pretend-grabs*
